Thomas Magnussen trained as an actor at the internationally renowned conservatoire of the arts the Guildhall School of Music and Drama from which he graduated in 2000. His first job upon his graduation was a small part in Steven Spielberg's and Tom Hanks' award winning TV series Band of Brothers.
He has appeared in several short and feature films such as: Two Brothers by Susanne Bier; Hush Little Baby by Hella Joof; Aurum by James Barclay;A Sure Thing by Dennis Rosenfeld and the ABN Amro commercial All Languages.
On stage he has played a variety of plays counting Moritz in The Awakening of Spring at Theatre Mungo Park; Osric in Hamlet at the Royal Danish Theatre, a production which marked the opening of the theatre's new playhouse, and one of the leads in the award winning Shakespeare collage Flammens Muse - Muse of Fire.
He utilizes his great love and knowledge of Shakespeare in his teachings at the Ophelia drama school in Copenhagen as well as his one-man show Shakespeare's Danish Prince.

  • Together with composer and musician Bjorn Palmqvist, Thomas is in the final stages of the recording of a selection of William Shakespeare's sonnets. They are expected to release a double album later this summer, with the immortal words of the Great Bard set to newly composed music. The sonnets will be available in both English and Danish

  • Long Days Journey into Night - Folketeatret.dk 2010Through out the spring and early summer of 2010 Thomas played the consumptive son Edmund in Eugene O'Neill's epic family drama Long Days Journey into Night. The play ran a very successfull run at Folketeatret.dk in the heart of Copenhagen. Besides Thomas the cast consisted of the very esteemed actors Stina Ekblad, Waage Sandø and Ken Vedsegaard.
  • In January 2010 Thomas stared in the monologue Flugten at the Copenhagen based theatre NyAveny. The play, about a former soldier of the Foreign Legion who is forced to confront his grim past, was very well recieved by both audiences and critics.

  • After an entire season of teaching and concentrating on his own projects,Thomas returned to the stage in the 2009/10 season.
    At first when the team behind Flammens Muse - Muse of Fire gave their interpretation of William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night at the new Copenhagen based theatre Republique.
    The production was a box-office hit and was overwhelmingly well recieved by the critics and nominated as Play of the Year 2010 at the prestigious Danish theatre award Aarets Reumert

  • Thomas Magnussen in "Brothers in Crime"Shooting on the Danish TV series Brothers in Crime (Som Brødre vi Dele) which was expected to begin in early 2010, is temporarily postponed.
    In the series Thomas plays one of the main characters.

  • James Barclay's next feature film Aurum, which shot on location in Vancouver, Canada and Jutland, Denmark in August and Septemer 2007, is scheduled to open in late 2008. In the film Thomas plays the part of geological engineer Will Thompson- one of the main supporting roles.

  • Throughout the summer 2009, Thomas was performing the one man show Shakespeare's Danish Prince - a Master class in Hamlet at the Danish Theatre Museum at the Court Theatre. The show is an entertaining and informative journey into the life of Shakespeare and the story of Hamlet, but also a chance to listen to some of the wonderful soliloquies from one of the greatest plays ever written.
  • Muse of Fire official posterOn Sunday the 27th of April Muse of Fire - Flammens Muse was given the award for "Best Play" in the category "Great, little Theatre Production" at the anual stage award show Aarets Reumert (the Danish equivalent of the Olivier or the Tony Awards) which was held at The Royal Danish Theatre's old stage in the center of Copenhagen.

  • From April 12th to May 10th it was once again possible to see the awardwinning show Muse of Fire - Flammens Muse at the Copenhagen based theatre Husets Teater

  • From mid Febuary to mid April 2008 Thomas was part of the Royal Danish Theatre's production of Hamlet, which marked the opening of the theatre's new playhouse on Kvaesthusbroen in Copenhagen.

  • In November and December 2007, Thomas played the part of Judas in Odense Theatre's stage adaptation on the popular TV Christmas show Jesus & Josefine.Heroes Inc. - official poster
  • The Copenhagen based English theatre That Theatre Company played throughout March 2007 inKrudttoenden in Copenhagen their original first production of Heroes Inc. with Thomas portraying the part of Doctor Y.
  • In 2006 Thomas played the male lead in Dennis Rosenfelds shortfilm A Sure Thing (En Sikker Vinder), where he played opposite Trine Dyrholm.
